Chocolate Mint [Death] Brownies

Hershey's Chocolate Mint [Death] Brownies

[most excellent tasting]

About 36 brownies


3/4 cup HERSHEY's Cocoa [Gee, who sponsored this recipe?]
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and divided
1/2 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups (10-ounce package) HERSHEY's Mint Chocolate Chips
[also excellent for making fondue]
Glaze (recipe follows), optional [totally excessive]

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

2. In large bowl, stir together cocoa and baking soda; stir in 1/3 cup butter. Add water; stir until mixture thickens. Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup butter; stir until smooth. Add flour, vanilla and salt; stir until well blended. Stir in mint chocolate chips. Spread batter into prepared pan.

3. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.



Glaze: In small bowl, combine 2/3 cup powdered sugar and 2 to 3 teaspoons milk; stir in few drops green food color, if desired.


Warning: do not eat at once; could be deadly :-)
